Exciting news at TFC…We are working hard on a new project for Light City light festival in Baltimore on Nov 1-10. We are calling it the DiscoBug. We are taking two iconic symbols from the early 70’s, the VW Bug and the disco ball, and mashing them into one amazing interactive art installation. We are covering an actual ‘69 Bug in thousands of mirror squares, putting it on a giant lazy Susan, surrounding it with 16 insane lights and over 60 convex mirrors all attached to a 32’ diameter dome, to create something that will blow your mind. Plug in your music, control the lights, and spin the Bug to create a light show like no one has seen before! These are the beginnings of our first permanent Portland art installation. Space Plants are going to be a series of 5 giant alien-like plant creatures that will live at the revamped Lynchview Park in east Portland. More pics to come as we start the build process.
Clyde the Cyclameleon has been quite the hit at the Oregon Country Fair though we are learning that he wasn’t designed for this much action. D’oh!
Still absorbing all the amazing things that happened at last weekends Northwest String Summit, but I think this one was my favorite moment of all. This was one of those spontaneous “Horning’s Magic Moments.” At the end of Space Oddity the four girls went up on the Queen Bee platform and the crowd erupted in deafening cheers. You can see the delight on the kid’s faces. More to come soon.
